Mangalore, Jan 26, 2014: Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy has informed that Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) will be invoked against all those arrested in the case of murder of Ankola businessman and BJP leader RN Naik on January 12.
Speaking to the media men here on January 25, Saturday, the IGP said two more have been arrested in connection with the murder taking the total arrests to seven.


Those arrested are Rabdin of Tamil Nadu and Ismail of Palakkad, both said to be aides of underworld don Bannanje Raja. Earlier four persons were arrested in Hebri on January 11. Those arrested were Achchangi Mahesh, Santhosh alias Sullia Santhu, Laxman Bhajantri alias Ganesh (29) from Karkala, Ambaji Bandgar alias Abhi (35) from Bangalore, Satish Patel alias Jagadish (21) from Uttar Pradesh, Another accused named Satish Patel was arrested while he was fleeing soon after the murder. Yet another assailant Akash alias Vivek Upadhyaya (27) from Varanasi was gunned down by RN Naik’s bodyguard.
The IG informed that all the arrested will be charged under Section 3 of KCOCA apart from other sections of the Indian Arms Act as well as IPC.
The IGP informed that interrogations of the accused had revealed that they had made several places like Bangalore, Shimoga, Tirupathi, Kottayam, Palakkad and Varanasi as their hide-outs after the murder.
Four pistols and Rs 2 lakh in cash has been seized from the accused.
