Jacobite Syrian Church confers highest honor on A. C. Jayaraj

Mangalore, June 18, 2011: A. C. Jayaraj, advocate and notary and president of the Karnataka State Malayali Christian Association, has received the highest honor of Commander, which is bestowed by the Jacobite Syrian Church.

The honor of Commander is bestowed on people who serve the church faithfully. Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, the supreme head of the church, conferred this honor on A. C. Jayaraj recently at his palace in Damascus, Syria.

Jayaraj had initiated the work of constructing a brand new cathedral when he was the secretary of St. Anthony’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral in 2005. The new cathedral was consecrated and dedicated in 2010.

Jayaraj was later designated as the convener for a new church in Shibaje in Belthangady, which was completed, consecrated, and dedicated recently in Feb 2011.
