Hotel owner robbed of valuables in train

Mangalore, Nov 3, 2011 : A group of people pretending to be a family has allegedly stolen 72gms of gold ornaments, a watch, a mobile phone, and other valuables from Bhaskar Shetty of Angadibettu in Nada-Konki who was on a train to Mumbai on Oct 30.


train1A hotel owner based in Mumbai, Bhaskar Shetty had visited his home in Mangalore to celebrate Diwali and was returning to Mumbai via train on Oct 30. When the train was close to Goa, two men, a woman and a child got into the compartment, became friendly with Mr. Shetty and offered him chocolate. Mr. Shetty lost consciousness shortly after eating the chocolate, and when he regained consciousness, he realized that he had been robbed of his valuables.

Passengers who noticed that Mr. Shetty appeared to be ill admitted him to a nearby hospital as soon as the train reached Mumbai. When Mr. Shetty recovered, he got in touch with his friend Kaltodu Sathosh Shetty in Mumbai, who was also robbed on a train to Mumbai on May 29. When he showed a photo of the thieves to his friend, Santhosh Shetty identified them to be the same gang that robbed him.

Bhaskar Shetty has lodged a complaint at the police station.
