Home Minister Parameshwar issues instructions to form anti-communal wing

Mangaluru, June 06, 2023: State Home Minister G Parameshwar  has issued instructions to the police officials of the city to set up an anti-communal wing in order to tackle incidents of moral policing and to ensure communal harmony.

 

The Home Minister gave this instruction during a meeting with senior police officials in the city on June 6, Tuesday.

Stressing the need for an environment free from fear, the Home Minister asked the cops to deal with an iron hand any activity that might disrupt communal harmony.

If required similar anti-communal wings will be formed in other places, the Home Minister said.

He further instructed the department to launch a drive against drugs.

ADGP Alok Mohan, City Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain, SPs of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Uttara Kannada took part in the meeting.

 Later speaking to reporters, Parameshwar said the government would take steps to provide compensation to the families of Fazil, Masood and Jaleel who died due to communal strifes. A decision would be taken in this regard soon, he said adding the government would set right the discrepancies in providing compensation during BJP rule.
