Heavy vehicle accidents lead to traffic block on Shiradi Ghat

Magalore, Sep13, 2012: There was a major traffic block on the NH48 stretch of Shiradi Ghat owing to two different heavy vehicle accidents.

First, a speeding lorry turned turtle between Gundya and Maranahalli, blocking traffic for a long time. Then a truck transporting timber also turned over in the same place, spilling logs all over the road.

According to the Sakleshpur police, the traffic block lasted for nearly five hours. According to the KSRTC, Mangalore division, buses plying to Mangalore from Bangalore reached 3 hours late because of the traffic block.
