Grotto of Mary at Our Lady of Loretto Church statue vandalized

Bantwal, Oct 13, 2013: Miscreants vandalize the glass of mother Mary statue in the grotto of Mary at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Loretto between Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13.

The incident came to light when a youth noticed the damaged glass of the statue on October 13, Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, parish priest Fr Oswald Monteiro said that the incident took place between 10 pm and 5 am and it was immediately reported to Bantwal town police. He also said that they have found two soda bottles near the statue, which was used for damaging the glass.

Town SI Venkataramana, Puttur DSP H D Mendonca and team visited the spot spot and investigated the incident.

When the locals from Agrar, Modankap, Bambil came to know about the incident, they visited the church and recited prayers front of the grotto.

Bantwal town police station has registered the case.
