Mangalore, Aug 12, 2013: DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated a workshop on rejuvenation of cashew crops and agriculture, organized here on August 12, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said the government was doing its level best to extend all possible aid to farmers and growers who are suffering from crop loss due to diseases. He also pointed out to the fact that farmers were opting for commercial crops which are affected due to diseases.
ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni who also spoke, said funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme will be utilized for revival of jasmine, arecanut and coconut cultivations during 2013-14. The ZP CEO also strongly advocated inter-cropping techniques.
Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo and Horticulture Department Deputy Director Yogish HR, also spoke on the occasion.
A handbook brought out by Horti Clinic was released by Rithesh Shetty, Vice President of Zilla Panchayat. Jayashri, President of ZP Standing Committee on Agriculture released handbooks on cashew rejuvenation programme and programmes of Horticultural Department.
