Good Friday observed with devotion and piety at Kulshekar Church

Mangalore, April 23: Good Friday was observed at the Cordel Church Holy Cross Church Kulshekar in Mangalore on Friday, April 23. A special mass was conducted and scores of believers were a part of the event.

Hymns were recited and prayers were performed on the occasion. Excerpts were read from the Bible and the story of Jesus Christ’s life was read out to the crowd.

Fr Valerian Pinto, Parish priest, said that Good Friday is a religious holiday observed primarily by Christians commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. Christians undertake a fast for 40 days prior to the occasion. Easter will be celebrated on Sunday.

Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after crucifixion. His resurrection is celebrated as Easter Sunday. A special programme will be conducted on Sunday, he added.

Parish council vice-president Victor Vaz was present.
