Mangalore, June 22, 2011: Ganesh Bazar, one of the most popular provision stores in Mangalore is celebrating its 37th anniversary on June 22 Wednesday.
Addressing reporters, Harekala Narendra Nayak, the proprietor of Ganesh Bazar, said that the store gives top priority to customer service and provision of top quality products. He further said that they had been maintaining high standards at the store ever since his father Harekala Madhava Nayak established it in 1974. He said that Ganesh Bazar had donated funds and helped special schools and orphanages on the occasion of its silver jubilee celebrations.
Stating that the store always had the concept of providing packed commodities ever since its inception, he said that they have no plans to expand because the aim is to provide excellent service and products in one place. However, the store plans to recruit more people, he added. He also declared that Ganesh Bazar now has more customers than before.
Speaking about the origins of Ganesh Bazar, he said that his father got the idea of launching a provision store because of the difficulties he had to get the required commodities from various shops while performing the final rites of his grandfather. He, therefore, decided to set up a store that would provide all commodities under one roof.
Regarding the services available at the store, he said that the store had always tried to provide high quality food products at reasonable rates, adding that, by personally serving customers, they can establish a better relationship with them and even manage the accounts department better. He said that Ganesh Bazar also provides door delivery services every month, especially for aged customers.
Stating that malls have not reduced the number of customers flocking to Ganesh Bazar, he said that the store has witnessed 20 – 30 percent more business after the appearance of malls. He said that customers have more faith on Ganesh Bazar and the quality of the products available there.
Harekala Narendra Nayak and his wife Laxmi Nayak
Harekala Narendra Nayak, who took over the management of the store at the tender age of 16, is the son of late Madhava Nayak and Sumithra Nayak. Mr. Nayak and his wife Laxmi Nayak are celebrating the silver jubilee of their wedding on June 22, which also happens to be Mrs. Nayak’s birthday. The couple has two children, Nagkiran and Madhav Nayak.
