Four errors in CET maths paper

Mangalore, April 28: Expert Group Chairman Narendra L. Nayak told reporters that the mathematics question paper of the Common Entrance Test (CET), which was held on Wednesday, had some questions without the correct answers.

Revealing further details, Mr. Nayak said that questions 14, 33, 53, and 55 in the A4 series had 4 questions without correct answers, adding that he had discussed these questions with a few mathematics lecturers. Since the correct answer was not mentioned, students wasted their time solving and re-solving the problem trying to find the correct answer.

Normally, if such a problem occurs, students are given four grace marks. However, authorities also have the option of calculating the final percentage using 56 as maximum marks instead of 60. Nayak said, “Students panic when faced with such situations. It is a torture for them. Officials setting the paper are highly paid and need to be extra careful. The same mistakes were seen in the other series of the question paper too.”

The answer keys for the biology and mathematics questions can be found at www.expertclasses.org. The answer keys for physics and chemistry will also be published after the respective examinations.

One of the students said that if the question paper had errors, students should be given grace marks.
