Film star Darshan graces Kadri Cricketers’ mosaru kudike celebrations

Mangalore, September 3: The Kadri Cricketers celebrated mosaru kudike on September 2, Thursday on Kadri Grounds from 7:00 p.m. The celebrations were a cheerful blend of culture and religion and entertained the large crowds of spectators gathered there for hours.

The highlight of the event was Geetha Melodies Star Nite, which commenced with an orchestra and dance programmes by local teams such as Ocean Kids. Challenging Star Darshan arrived at the venue at 8:00 p.m. and the crowd gave him a boisterous welcome. The organizers not only gave him a traditional welcome of Kombu, but also dedicated the song “Aitalakadi” to him.


Ronald Colaco, the chairman of International Federation of Karnataka Christians’ Association; Devanand Shetty of Dix Shipping Company; and Prakash Shetty, the chairman of MRG Group, who are the patrons of the show, were honored during the formal stage programme. Darshan was felicitated by all the chief guests and members of Kadri Cricketers. He said that he could become an achiever only with the help of his fans and urged everybody to encourage Kannada movies. He even enthralled the crowds by repeating the famous dialogue from the movie “Majestic.”

The organizers presented mementos to all the guests and felicitated Manikanth Kadri, a talented youngster; Prithvi, a promising young music director; and Karthik and Savari, the reputed young playback singers. The organization also conferred on them the best singer and best music director awards and said that this will be one of the regular features of the annual mosaru kudike celebrations.

Karthik and Savari later performed before the crowd. Karthik sang hits such as Patra Bareyala and Ale Ale while Manikanth sang a medley of his compositions such as Hejjegondu Hejje and Jayave Ninnadu.


Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister; Upendra Prabhu, the general manager of Karnataka Bank; A. Sadananda Shetty, the chairman of Shreedevi Education Trust; Walter Nandalike, the editor-in-chief of Daijiworld.com; Manjunath Bhandary, the chairman of Bhandary Foundation; Shrikar Prabhu, the president of BJP; Suresh Ullal, the former president of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA); Suresh Kumar, actor; and Rathnakar Jain of Jain Travels were the chief guests of the event.


The anchor of the show was VJ Anushree of Zee Kannada, who interacted with the audience and the stars of the show. RJ Vishwas was the master of ceremonies.


Mosaru Kudike

The Mosaru Kudike is celebrated every year as part of the Shri Krishna Leelotsav. A procession commences at Kadri Temple and reaches Gopalakrishna Temple at Kadri Kambala after which it passes through Kambala, Kadri Ground, and Kadri Mallikatte before going back to Kadri Temple. The pots are hung on 15-foot poles and decorated to be broken by the local youth. Mosaru Kudike was celebrated in many places of Mangalore by various organizations and clubs.
