Kasargod, Jan 26, 2014: The Sixth Kerala State Kannada Conference, the Kerala-Karnataka Festival was inaugurated here on January 25 by former chief minister of Karnataka DV Sadananda Gowda. He also inaugurated the birth centenary celebrations of veteran writer and Kannada activist Kayyara Kinhanna Rai on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the former chief minister said there is a need for different language people to live in peace and harmony and added Kannada and Malayalam shared a very close bonding. He also assured as um of Rs 10 lakh from his MLC fund towards the construction of the proposed Kannada Bhavan in Kasargod.

On this occasion, Gowda also laid foundation for a Kannada Village.
DH Shankaramurthy, Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal party President Vatal Nagaraj, Deputy Director of Mysore Rangayana S I Bhavikatti, author Dr Manubaligar, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Shivarama Kasargod, President of Karavali Cultural Foundation and several others were present.
