Mangaluru, April 02, 2022: Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has stressed the need for electoral reforms in India.
He was addressing an interaction programme organised at Town Hall on April 1, Friday to discuss the steps to be taken for electoral reforms.
Hailing the Constitution of India, he said it was because of the constitution drafted by Dr B R Ambedkar that even a common man could head the nation. He further stated that every Indian must feel proud of the constitution.
On the need for electoral reforms, he pointed out how moral values have been declining and how corruption was rampant. Stating that the committee formed by the Lok Sabha speaker has given suggestions on strengthening the electoral process, he said there was a need for electoral reforms and added that it is only the will of the people that can help in effectively implementing any reforms that are brought about by the Government.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, ZP CEO Kumar, Mayor Premananda Shetty, MLA Vedavyas Kamath and others were present.
