Chairman and Managing Director of Air India Arvind Jadhav said that an interim relief of Rs. 1 million has already been distributed to 159 of the 160 victims. One family resides in Dubai and could not fly to India to receive the compensation; but visiting official plan to hand over the compensation to them, he said.

Leading Indian entrepreneur and new independent director on Air India Board M. A. Yousuf Ali said that efforts are on to rehabilitate the victims’ families.

Lifeline Hospitals, a sister company of Abu Dhabi based Emkegroup, has offered jobs to about 50 relatives of plane crash victims in their new healthcare projects and hospitals. Job offers have also emerged from firms and institutions in the UAE for the relatives of the plane crash victims.

Jadhav said that the national carrier is willing to offer jobs to some relatives; however, they want jobs in the Gulf. Jadhav said that solutions should be worked out as per their livelihood, the type of work they have been doing, their salaries, and so on. He said that Air India is receiving the complete co-operation of the regional authorities with regard to permits and passports.
