LKG student of Kenjar school injured as portion of roofing collapses during strong winds

Mangaluru, July 1, 2025: A student of the Shree Mukhyaprana Unaided Pre-Primary School at Kenjar in Bajpe sustained injuries after a portion of the roofing of the school collapsed due to strong winds while classes were underway on Monday.

The injured Shonith (5), an LKG student has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. There were around 20 students in the class when the mishap took place. One portion of the roofing collapsed and fell inside the class and a piece of tile hit Shonith’s nose.

As most students were on the other side of the classroom they were not injured.
Mulki MLA Umanath Kotian and Mangaluru North Zone Education Officer James Cutinho visited the school.

The school is unaided and alumni of this school are managing the LKG, UKG classes in the institution. The school building was repaired three years ago. Parents have alleged that sub-standard construction has led to the mishap.
