Mangalore Aug 20, 2013: The birth anniversary of former prime minister Late Rajiv Gandhi and former chief minister late Devaraj Urs was observed by the District Congress Committee on August 20, Tuesday at the Congress Office in the city.
B Ramanatha Rai, District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Environment and Forests, offered his tribute to the two leaders by garlanding their portraits.
In his address, Rai hailed the contributions of the two leaders to the nation and the state and described the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi as a role model to the youth. He also recalled the contributions of late chief minister Devaraj Urs in securing social justice.
On this occasion, Rai exuded confidence that the party would win the bye-elections in the state.
Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Ivan D’Souza, Suresh Ballal, corporators Naveen D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
