Belthangady, Aug 6, 2026: Police have arrested a 37-year-old man from Bengaluru who had been absconding for nearly five years in connection with a robbery case registered at the Dharmasthala Police Station in Belthangady.
The accused has been identified as Murthy alias Pintu (37), a resident of Bengaluru. He was wanted in Crime No. 64/2017 registered under Sections 395 (dacoity), 397 (robbery with deadly weapon), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to police, the accused had failed to appear before the court for nearly five years and had been evading trial. As a result, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
Acting on the warrant, Dharmasthala Police personnel Vrushabha and Charan Raj tracked down the accused in Bengaluru and arrested him.
Murthy was produced before the court on August 5, following which the court remanded him to judicial custody.
