Delay in issuing certificates, ID cards: Street vendors gherao MCC Commissioner’s office

Mangaluru, Oct 05, 2023: Hundreds of street vendors on October 5, Thursday gheraoed the office of the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner to protest against the inordinate delay in issuing certificates and identity cards to them.

 

 

 

 

 

The street vendors accused the MCC Commissioner of inaction and alleged that the local MLA Vedavyas Kamath was directly responsible for the neglect of street vendors by the MCC. “The MCC was delaying issuing of ID cards and certificates due to the pressure by the MLA, alleged B K Imtiyaz, Honorary President of Street Vendors Association. “The MCC Commissioner has secured the posting by giving Rs 3 crore bribe,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner has alleged that the office bearers of the Street Vendors Association were cheating the vendors by securing Rs 2 lakh bribe.
