Mangalore, Sept 17, 2012: The All College Students’ Union organized a protest on September 17, Monday demanding justice in the case of Deepika, a student of II PUC commerce at St. Ann’s College, who died because of alleged medical negligence.

The South Kanara Photographers’ Association and the people of Madoor joined the All College Students’ Union and protested in front of Thokkottu Junction and later in front of the DC’s office, demanding that the doctors in charge of Deepika’s case must be taken to task.

Deepika (17) died on September 16, Sunday at a private hospital in Kotekar, where she was admitted because of severe stomach ache. Her family members say that she died because of medical negligence.

The protestors held a rally from Kotekar to Thokkottu, following which they submitted a memorandum to ACP T. R. Jagannath. The protestors also spent some time protesting in front of JS Hospital in Kotekar.

Among those who took part in the protest were Justice Dinakar Ullal, Bhagavathi Thiya Samaj President Chandrahas Ullal, Sathish Kumpala, Uttam Alva, Arun Ullal, Shashi Kumar Kubanoor, Varun Raj, Rahul Raj Prakash, and Balaraj.
