The incident took place a few days ago. Shramya’s mother  Mamatha Rai who is also a Gram Panchayat Member had been to her mother’s house which is nearby. There Mamatha had gone to the plantation to switch on the pump. While she was returning, she accidentally stepped on a king cobra that was near the lake and the cobra had bit her leg. She immediately returned home and tied hay above the portion of the leg where the king cobra had bitten her. Shramya who realised that this would be of no help, immediately sucked off the venom by showing great presence of mind and thus ensured the poison did not spread. Later Mamatha was rushed to the hospital and doctors said there was no harm to her life, due to the daring act of her daughter who sucked the venom.
