Nitte, November 17, 2011: NMAM Institute of Technology Principal Dr. S. Y. Kulkarnai said in a press release issued today that the institute will organize its silver jubilee celebrations on Nov 18.

Revealing further details, he said that CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda will be the chief guest of the event and the guests of honor will be Dr. V. S. Acharya, the minister for higher education; D. H. Shankara Murthy, the chairman of the legislative council; Mr. H. Gopal Bhandary, the MLA of Karkala; Mr. Y. B. Ramakrishna, the chairman of the Biofuel Development Board in Bangalore; Captain Ganesh Karnik, the deputy chairman of the NRI Forum and MLC; Dr. A. U. Diraskar, the central project advisor of TEQIP Noida; M. Abdul Aziz, the additional director of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce in Bangalore.

Dr. H. Maheshappa, the vice chancellor of VTU Belgaum, will release Sadichche, the silver jubilee souvenir.

The Vocational Training Centre, which is estimated to cost around Rs. 4.5 crore and the Biofuel Information Demonstration Centre, which is estimated to cost around Rs. 1.5 crore, will be inaugurated on this occasion, added the principal.

He also said that a number of national and international events were held after the silver jubilee year was inaugurated in Oct 2010. Among the events organized are technical fests, cultural fests, staff training programmes, and others.

Institute of Technology
NMAMIT was launched in 1986 by late Justice K. S. Hegde in honor of Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya, a renowned engineer in the district. Today, NMAMIT has over 3000 students and offers courses in engineering as well as PG/research programs. Its rural location hasn’t prevented students from all over India and abroad from flocking to its premises. NMAMIT became an autonomous institution under VTU Belgaum in 2007 and is affiliated to Visvheshwarayya Technological University in Belgaum and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education in New Delhi.

The institution is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation based in New Delhi and is certified to the ISO 9001 – 2000 standards for quality education by KEMA in Netherlands. It is also recognized as among the lead institutions under the World Bank’s TEQIP project for infrastructure development, faculty improvement, and training/research activities.

The institution has to its credit Best College Award – KSCST, Government of Karnataka State Award for 2004 – 5, 2006 – 07, and 2008 – 09, and Gurukul Jyothi National Award for excellence in technical education. Principal Dr. S. Y. Kulkarni has also bagged the ISTE Best Principal Award.
