Kundapur, Jul 10, 2026: A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a truck collided with his bike on National Highway-66 near Kinara Junction in Koteshwar on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Bharath Shetty (34), a resident of Koltha near Jannalu in Idur-Kunjadi.
According to reports, the truck, which was transporting plywood from Kerala to Nashik, was travelling from Udupi towards Kundapur when it rammed into the motorcycle moving in the same direction. Bharath suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
Bharath was employed at a paint showroom near Koteshwar and had got married only last year. Family members said he usually travelled to work by car but had ridden his motorcycle on Thursday.
Locals alleged that the truck driver, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, was driving rashly and negligently, leading to the fatal accident.
Kundapur Traffic Police Sub-Inspectors Anoop Naik and Sudha Prabhu, along with other personnel, visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered.
