DIET hosts convention on Children’s Right to Education Act

Mangalore, August 31: The District Education and Training Center in Kodialbail organized a district-level convention on Children’s Right to Education Act at DIET in Kodialbail on Aug 31, Tuesday. Rajashree Hegde, the standing committee president of the Health and Education Department, was the chief guest of the event.

Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, the president of the Zilla Panchayat, inaugurated the event and spoke of the large number of schemes launched by the government in government schools for the benefit of children of all ages. Referring to the government’s Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan, he said that none of the earlier governments had provided facilities, which include funds worth Rs. 30 crore. Declaring that the government is working hard to provide education for all children, he said that education will be made compulsory for children of all ages.

MLA U. T. Khader said in his presidential address that the government has released educational funds, but government schemes need to be implemented. He declared that the people of DK are lucky to have several renowned educational institutions while people in other states do not have sufficient facilities for education. He also urged teachers and other educational authorities not to neglect problems, but to discuss them with higher authorities and try to find solutions for them.

Chame Gowda, the deputy director of Health and Educational Department; Fr Melwyn Pinto, Headmaster, St Aloysius High School and Chandrashekar Damle, the headmaster of Sneha Kannada Primary School, Sullia also spoke on the occasion.


Rajashree Hegde,  President, Education and Health Standing Committee DK Zilla Panchayat, Mangalore was the chief guest.


Philomena Lobo, Deputy Director  and Principal DIET Mangalore and Joseph, Rtd Deputy Director, Board of Education, Bangalore were the dignitaries on the dais.
