Mangalore, Jan 21: The customs officials at Mangalore international airport seize five Silver coated gold wires concealed in the beadings of a trolley suitcase from a passenger travelled in the Air India Express coming from Dubai on January 21, 2014.

The total weight of the smuggled gold is 406.180 Grams, approximately valued at Rs.12,14, 478/-  The passenger is identified as Abdul Rasheed Puthiyavalappu Moideenkutty, a resident of Puthiyavalappu, Thekkilfery P.O., Chengala, Kasaragod, Kerala State.

Abdul Rasheed had arrived in Mangalore airport by the Air India Express flight IX 814 on January 21, 2014 at 07.45 hours. During customs checking, the officials were able to detect the ingenious disguise in the metal detector.


He is taken into custody and investigation is on.
