Court hears 4 witnesses in Manipal gang rape case

Mangalore, Jan 21, 2014: The trial of the case of gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University, resumed at the Udupi District and Session Court on January 20, Monday.  The court heard four witnesses during the day.

One of the four witnesses was a security personnel of the Manipal University. The trial is continuing even on January 21, Tuesday and will also be held on January 22, Wednesday.

The incident had taken place on the night of June 20 last year when the medical student of Kerala origin was returning from the college library. The police arrested all the five accused in the case including the three main accused.

The prime accused are Yogish, Anand and Hariprasad. All the three are facing charges under IPC Sections 366, 376 D and  506. Two others arrested namely Balachandra and Harindra are facing charges of destroying evidences.
