Congress fields Moidin Bava from Mangalore North

Mangalore,April 15, 2013: Finally, the Congress has decided to field Moidin Bava, the President of the District Congress Minorities Cell from Mangalore North Constituency.

The second list of 40 candidates was released on April 14, Sunday. It may be recalled here that including Bava there were two other strong contenders for a ticket from the constituency namely Kripa Alva and former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty. Recently, Shetty and Bava loyalists were also involved in their brawl at the Mangalore airport in their haste to meet Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes.

Moidin Bava who had contested even the 2008 assembly elections, had lost to BJP’s Krishna  Palemar.

Initially, Kripa Alva was projected as the likely candidate in line with Party President Sonia Gandhi’s desire to  see more women candidates.  Later, Vijaykumar Shetty’s name was also heard, but the ticket has finally gone to Bava.
