Udupi, August 8, 2021: State minister for Energy, Kannada and Culture Sunil Kumar has said that areas would be sealed down and declared containment zones if five Covid-19 cases are detected within a radius of 100 meters.
He was speaking to reporters after presiding over a meeting to discuss Covid control measures, at the ZP meeting hall on August 7, Saturday.
He said measures are being taken to ensure there is no oxygen shortage in the district. A Medical Oxygen plant is already functioning in Hebri while works on similar projects are underway at Udupi District Hospital and Kundapur Taluk Hospitals.
He said there have been 1408 active Covid cases in the past 10 days and added 12 patients are at Covid care centres while the rest 139 at hospitals and the remaining 1257 people in home isolation. He said all those in home isolation will be shifted to Covid care centres and their houses will be sealed down.
He said measures would be taken to increase ICU beds in Udupi District Hospital as well as Karkala and Kundapur Taluk Hospitals.
He said 34,000 people are waiting for the second dose of Covid vaccine and measures would be taken towards adequate supply of vaccines.
