City Lost ₹100 Crore to Cyber Fraud in 26 Months: Police Commissioner

Mangaluru, March 1, 2026: Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Police Commissioner of Mangaluru, on Sunday said residents of the city have lost over ₹100 crore to cyber fraud in the last 26 months, urging people to remain vigilant against online scams.

Addressing participants before flagging off the ‘Run for Drug Free Karnataka and Cyber Safety’ at Mangala Stadium, Mr. Reddy cautioned the public against falling prey to online investment schemes, digital arrest scams and other fraudulent tactics employed by cyber criminals.

He said fraudsters have been luring victims with promises of attractive interest rates and other deceptive offers, leading to losses exceeding ₹100 crore during 2024, 2025 and the first two months of 2026.

More than 2,800 participants took part in the 5 km and 10 km categories of the run.

Dr Arun K, Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada, DCPs Mithun H.N. and Ravishankar K., ASP Anil Kumar Bhumareddy and others were present on the occasion.
