Belthangady, Dec 25,2012: The Chairman and members of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, on December 24, Monday visited the residence of late Sowjanya at Pangala in Dharmasthala and heard the grievances of the family. The body of Sowjanya, a student of Ujire SDM College student who was raped and murdered, was found at Pangala on October 10.

While speaking to the Commission, family members of Sowjanya expressed strong doubts that Sowjanya might have been killed somewhere else and then the body dumped at Pangala. They also stated that they had not found the body at the place when they had been there in search of Sowjanya the previous night.
Umesh Aradhya HR, Chairman of the Commission said the Commission would submit a report to the government through the department concerned on the information that it has gathered regarding the case. The Commission would see to it that the CID probe presently underway into the murder case, would be expedited. He said the Commission aimed at protecting the rights of children below 17 and would come to the aid of those children who are subject to physical or mental harassment or atrocities by anyone be it parents, public or teachers. He said the Commission would try to bring out the facts regarding the Sowjanya case.
The Commission Chairman and members also spoke to several authorities as well as locals to gather information regarding the case.
