Mangalore, April 6, 2012 : The academic council has approved guidelines to implement the challenge valuation in various post graduate courses at its meeting held on March 5 Thursday.
This allows candidates who appeared for post graduate exams conducted by the Mangalore University to apply through the institution or head of the department for challenge valuation after paying the fee prescribed within 20 days of the publication of the results or 10 days after the date on which the marks card was dispatched by the registrar (evaluation) to the institution or head of he department or 7 days from the date on which the re-totaling results were communicated.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Murthy, said that, in case of differences between marks allotted after challenge valuation and initial valuation, the average of the two will be considered as the final total. If the difference is over 10 percent and advantageous to the candidate, half the fee will be refunded.
The VC further said that challenge valuation is allowed for theory papers only and a suitable external examiner selected by a VC-approved panel of examiners will value the answer scripts.
The VC also said that, as per the request of a college to grant permission to launch PG course in Bharathnatyam and Carnatic Music, the university formed a committee to frame course guidelines and syllabus, with Dr. Arathi Shetty, the principal of Sarsa College of Fine Arts and Science, as the president. Accordingly, regulations regarding choice-based credit system (CBCS) for the four-semester Masters Degree Program in Bharathnatyam and Carnatic Music were presented at the meeting.
