Mangalore, Jun 5: Konkani Prachar Sanchalan President Roy Castelino said that Christians should not only be like sugar or salt, mixing with everyone and making things easy and comfortable, but should also learn to take decisions to avoid being taking advantage of. He was addressing the gathering at an annual programme organized by the Canara Catholic Education Cooperative Society (CCECS), during which scholarships were distributed to financially backward students.

Speaking further, he said that Christians should understand the value of education and should learn to fight for social causes by joining other communities. He added that Christians should learn the culture, religion, and language of other communities.

A total of Rs. 80,000 was given away as scholarships to Kannada medium students from Std. I to Std X.

Rudolf D’Silva, the previous president of CCECS, delivered the welcome address and said that the CCECS, which is now 66 years old, still has a lot to achieve. Director Adeline Mascarenhas was the MC of the event and Director Ullas Rasquinha proposed the vote of thanks.
