Mangalore, April 8: BJP state general secretary and MLA CT Ravi in response to a statement made by B Janardan Poojary opined that it would be a good option for Mr Poojary to retire from all his political works.
It can be recalled that former Union minister, B Janardan Poojary, addressed the press persons on Wednesday has stated his retirement from politics if BJP candidates win all the three assembly seats that are going to the bypoll.
Further Ravi asked Poojary to mentally be prepared to accept the defeat as he expressed his confidence that BJP candidates will come out victorious in all the three constituencies.
Asserting that BJP as a political unit has never condoned or would never accept corruption, the state general secretary and Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi told reporters here on Thursday that one would have to wait for the verdict into ongoing inquiries of allegations of corruption against Yeddyurappa. It would be premature to pronounce a guilty verdict against the CM, Ravi said, adding that BJP would not support anyone found guilty of corruption.
Statements of the Congress leaders including its spokesperson Manish Tiwari belittling Hazare’s crusade against corruption only betrays their nervousness on the issue, he said, adding that the only answer for this was the enactment of the Lokpal Bill that is in the cold storage for the past 42 years. BJP would extend full support to a bill that empowers the ombudsman to go after the corrupt and not one that seeks to do that on paper, he noted.
The Lokayukta in Karnataka has more powers compared to his counterparts in other states in the country. The demand of the Lokayukta for enhanced powers to tackle corruption while justified has to come about as the result of a central enactment empowering this constitutional body in all aspects, he said. BJP would win all three assembly constituencies that go to polls on April 9; Ravi said adding that BJP would open its tally in Kerala assembly this time.
