Mangalore, Sept. 30, 2012: Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore Diocese, inaugurated a golden jubilee project undertaken by the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW), called “Sahay,” at St. Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu on September 29, Saturday.
Sahay includes facilities such as computer courses and counseling centre for the needy at nominal fees.
The dignitaries on the dais were Fr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Fr. Francis D’Souza, Lydia D’Cunha, and others.
In his address, the bishop lauded the DCCW for launching this project, which will be of great assistance to the needy. He said that the DCCW has done a lot for the welfare of society ever since its launch in 1961.
Fr. Denis Prabhu, Sr. Mariette, Fr. Francis, and Dr. Mariella also addressed the gathering.
DCCW Vice President Reni Pillai introduced Sahay and said that the project aims to create a better society, adding that new facilities will be soon added as per the feedback received.
Lily Pereira spoke of the importance of learning computers and Prof. Leena Fernandes spoke of the importance of counseling.
