26 August 2010: The 156th birth anniversary of Brhamashri Narayana Guru Swami was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor by his devotees in many places in the Udupi Taluk.  While inaugurating the Community Hall at Kaup built out of the MP’s fund on behalf of the Kaup Billava Sahayaka Sangha on Wednesday, 25 August 2010, the former Central Minister of State for Finance, B. Janardhana Poojaary said that that message of Shri Narayana Guru is universal as he preached one religion, one caste and one humanity.

The inauguration function was attended by National Award winning teacher-Malpe Ragghavendra, social worker-B. Salian, Arun Kumar of Udupi Nirmithi Kendra, Kaup Billava Sahayaka Sangha President-Shekhar Salian, Kaup Block Congress President-Gangadhar Suvarna, Mangalore KMF Director-Kaup Diwakar Shetty, women’s Unit President-Savithri ganesh and Sevadal President-Anil Kumar.

Secretary of the kaup Billava Sahayaka Sangha-Madhava R. Palan welcomed the guests,  Shivanna Anchan conducted the programme and Somanatha Salian proposed the vote of thanks.
