Mangaluru, Aug 3, 2026: The body of a 48-year-old man who went missing after reportedly falling from a footbridge into a stream near his house during heavy rains was recovered on Monday morning, following an intensive two-day search operation.
The deceased has been identified as Jeevan Pinto (48), a resident of Panchakodi in Raayi village, Bantwal taluk.
According to officials, Jeevan went missing on Saturday night after reportedly falling into a stream near his house. Despite heavy rain and strong water currents, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local residents carried out continuous search operations.
After nearly two days of searching, his body was found near Pambadagadde in Arala village on Monday morning.
It is suspected that Jeevan was walking to his uncle’s house on the night of August 1 when he slipped while crossing a narrow footbridge and fell into the swollen stream.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
