Bantwal, Oct 6, 2025: A bike-borne miscreant snatched a gold chain worth lakhs of rupees from a woman walking along the National Highway near Dasakodi on the evening of October 4.
The victim has been identified as Saraswati, a resident of Chende in Baltila village. The stolen chain, weighing around two sovereigns, is estimated to be worth about ₹2 lakh.
According to reports, Saraswati had gone to Kalladka town and was returning home by bus. After alighting at the Dasakodi petrol pump bus stop, she was walking toward her house when an unidentified man approached her from behind on a bike, snatched the chain from her neck, and fled toward Mani.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Town Police Station.
