Bantwal, May 30, 2025: A 17-year-old student from Kinnibetti in Amtadi village tragically passed away on Friday, May 30, reportedly due to dengue fever, sparking concern among health officials and residents.
The victim, identified as Hitesh, son of Gopal Gowda, had been battling a high fever for several days and was under treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru. Despite medical intervention, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to the illness.
Sources indicate that a sharp decline in Hitesh’s platelet count—a common complication associated with dengue—likely contributed to his death. While an official medical report is still pending, preliminary findings suggest dengue as the probable cause.
In the wake of the incident, health authorities are urging the public to remain alert and proactive. “It’s vital to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, particularly stagnant water around homes,” a health official emphasized.
Residents have been advised to watch for symptoms such as sudden high fever, severe headaches, joint pain, and rashes. Officials stress that early detection and timely treatment are essential to prevent severe complications.
Amid a rise in dengue cases in the area, local authorities have intensified fogging drives and public awareness campaigns to help control the spread of the disease.
