Kundapur, Sep 26, 2011 : Shankar Poojary (55) of Padukone was strangled to death by unknown murderers late in the night of September 24 Saturday. Poojary was the chief manager of Oriental Bank of Commerce, MG Road Branch, Bangalore.
Poojary’s body was discovered by the employee of a hotel where Poojary used to eat late on Sunday evening. Since Poojary did not cook his own food, he depended on hotel food. Since Poojary did not visit the hotel on Sunday for his usual meal, the owner of the hotel, who is a friend of Poojary, sent one of his employees to find out if everything was alright.
Poojary was transferred to Bangalore from Mumbai only last year. Since he had left his family in Mumbai, he stayed alone at an apartment in Yediyur Tank, Bangalore.
The motive for the crime is not yet known, but police suspect employment-related issues as being responsible for the crime. Since the front door was open, Poojary must have opened it for someone he knew.
Poojary’s neighbors report that Poojary had turned on the TV a bit too high from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night although he did not watch too much TV.
The Jayanagar police have registered a case.
