Bakery Owner Assaulted After Business Dispute in Udupi

Udupi, May 24, 2026: A bakery owner was allegedly threatened with a knife and assaulted following a dispute between two bakery owners near Karavali Bypass in Udupi city.

Muraleedhar, owner of Pooja Bakery, sustained injuries in the incident, while Ashok, owner of the nearby Krishna Bakery, has been named as the accused.

According to sources, Muraleedhar has been running his bakery business in the area for nearly two decades, whereas Ashok had opened his bakery outlet about a year ago.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, when Ashok allegedly arrived in front of Pooja Bakery and picked up a quarrel, accusing Muraleedhar of affecting his business. Despite Muraleedhar reportedly trying to calm the situation, the accused allegedly abused him in foul language and began throwing items kept outside the shop, creating panic in the area.

The accused later allegedly entered the bakery, grabbed Muraleedhar by the collar, threatened him with a knife, and assaulted him.
