Dr. Shantharam Baliga, the professor and head of the department, said that Moksha of Bantwal was admitted to Wenlock Hospital on June 11 with symptoms of vomiting. Her case was diagnosed to be epilepsy. He said that the child was being treated for epilepsy and that she was responding well to the treatment; however, her condition worsened on June 13, after which she was put on the ventilator with the permission of her parents. He asserted that the medical staff at Wenlock was communicating with parents as well as doctors and were giving good treatment to the child.

Stating that no one can blame the doctors or the hospital, he said that, as the child was suffering from inborn errors of metabolism acidosis, there were small chances of her surviving.

Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike President Hanumath Kamath said that 3 children have died at Wenlock Hospital in just 24 hours, adding that Wenlock has no good doctors, just medical students who go on rounds and treat the patients.

Stating that the government has sanctioned crores of rupees for the improvement of this hospital, he alleged that the hospital management has only used the money to beautify the premises with tiles and glass. Flaying the hospital management, he said that patients get neither treatment nor medication when they get admitted at Wenlock Hospital, but are given prescriptions to purchase medicine from outside. He said that 5 children have died at Wenlock Hospital within just one week and that the management is to blame for it.
