Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Sept. 17, 2012: The DK district unit of the BJP organized a protest on September 17, Monday in front of the DC’s office to condemn the UPA government’s decision to hike LPG gas and diesel prices and to permit up to 51% FDI in multi-brand retail.

Delivering the protest address on the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the Congress is looting Indian citizens not only by hiking prices, but also by its involvement in scams such as 2G Spectrum Scam and Commonwealth Games Scam. Demanding to know why the prime minister was silent at this crucial time, he alleged that the UPA government has made life impossible for common people by limiting subsidized cooking gas, raising diesel prices, and now encouraging multi-brand retail in the country.

Alleging that the “Italian” Sonia Gandhi is making it easier for foreign countries to loot the country, he demanded the immediate resignation of PM Manmohan Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Padmanabha Kottary, president of the district unit of the BJP, said that India is a country of farmers, and if the government permits foreign investment, the small traders and cottage industries of India will suffer and the farmers will not get any benefit.

The JD(S) and the Samajwadi Party will join the BJP and will launch a nationwide protest on September 20, Thursday to condemn the UPA’s decision to permit foreign investment.

Rahim Uchil, Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly N. Yogish Bhat, and State BJP Vice President Sulochana Bhat also spoke on this occasion.

The BJP then submitted a memorandum addressed to the PM to the DC.
