BJP is not leader-centric like Congress – DVS

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, Mar 1, 2012 : Addressing a rally of BJP workers on Wednesday, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that that BJP follows a cadre-based policy unlike the JD (S) and the Congress, which are leader-based.

Stating that the BJP is oriented toward development, he said that the state stands second only to Gujarat in the terms of implementing the 20-point development programs. Further, he said that the BJP has proved that it is committed to development by launching more development projects than any other government during its few years in power.

Flaying the Congress and the JD (S), he said that both have failed to launch the development projects that the BJP has, adding that the BJP has in just a few years done what the Congress failed to do in 60 years.

Further, the CM said that the Congress has no moral rights to seek votes as it has never been friendly to the people in general and to the farmers in particular. On the other hand, the BJP has implemented a number of people-friendly programs.

The CM also said that the government will take strict action against the land mafia and will also process pending files in government offices at the earliest possible.

Speaking on the occasion, Eshwarappa, the state president of the BJP, said that the BJP is not leader-centric. Unlike the Congress, the BJP takes decisions collectively and faces elections collectively. He said that the party will definitely be victorious because of all the development projects it has launched, adding that Gowda has introduced the programs to give away title deeds to slum dwellers.

Alleging that caste discrimination is a Congress tool, he said that the BJP is not a communal party. He also accused the Congress to only pretend to be interested in Dalits and backward classes to build their vote bank.

Admitting that there are differences of opinion in the BJP, he said that this hasn’t prevented the BJP from functioning. Ridiculing the Congress as a party with no identity, he said that only BJP can provide clean governance to the people and take the country to progress. Stating that the BJP has already been successful in elections held in five states so far, he said that the BJP intends to see that its late leader Dr. V. S. Acharya’s soul rests in peace.

Sunil Kumar files nomination

Just before the rally, Sunil Kumar, the BJP candidate for the Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by polls, filed his nomination in the company of CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda; Eshwarappa, the state president of the BJP; Ananth Kumar, the MP and senior BJP minister; B. Y. Raghavendra, the Shimoga MP.
