Udupi, August 23: Industrialist and Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated an exhibition of paintings by the students of Drishya School of Arts, at Gallery Dristi, here on Sunday.
Pramod called upon the budding artists not to be satisfied with their performance and keep on improving their talent. He said, “I am constructing a 15,000 sq feet house. I have decided to display huge number of paintings by the junior, young and renowned artists of Udupi alone in my new house. I am sure it will then become a huge gallery”.
Managing Partner of Jayadev Motors Renu Jayaram, Dr Vijayendra Rao of Denta Care were the chief guests. President of Artists’ Forum Udupi Ramesh Rao announced to organize an exhibition of paintings by the tiny tots in the month of November.
Ramesh Rao also announced that proprietor of Woodlands Restaurant Manohar Rao has made a bulk purchase of over 16 paintings exhibited at the gallery as a token of encouragement to the budding artists.
Paintings by Nagesh K Malpe, Medha Pai Udupi, Manmohan Pai Kukkikatte, Jagannath B Amin Malpe, Anusha Kamath Udupi, Mustafa Shankerpura, Chithra Acharya Subhasnagara, Surena Shetty Udupi, Pradeep Shetty Udupi, Raksha Amanna Kallianapura, Dulari Shetty Udyavara, Vasanthalaxmi Udupi, Sitara Rao Udupi, Anil Kaup, Dr Shwetha Kamath Bangalore, Geetha Bhat Y Udupi, Swathi Rao K Udupi, Divya Amin Moodubelle and Arun M Bangalore were at the display.
The exhibition will remain open till Tuesday, from 10 am to 7 pm.
