Moodbidri, Dec 25, 2011: Dr. M. Mohan Alva, the chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, said that the annual Alva’s Virasat will be held on Jan 5 – 8 at Shobavana in Mijar. 

Revealing more details, he said that this annual cultural event will be inaugurated on Jan 5 at 6:00 p.m. by D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, with Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade presiding. An awards ceremony will also be held. 

The chief guests of the event will be Dr. N. Vinaya Hegde, the president of the Nitte Education Trust; A. J. Shetty, the MD of AJ Group; Shashikiran Shetty, the entrepreneur; MLA Abhay Chandra Jain; MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik; former minister K. Amarnath Shetty; Dasaiah, the DGM of Canara Bank Mangalore; P. Jayaram Bhat, the MD of Karnataka Bank; Nadoja G. Shankar; K. Prakash Shetty, the MD of Gold Finch; N. Balakrishna, the entrepreneur; and Prasannakumar Shetty of KLN Engineering Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore. 

Vidhwan Ganesh and the Kumaresh brothers from Chennai will present a violin concert from 7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Jan 5 while the folk dances of Punjab will be presented from 8:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

The Shiva Fusion Group of Chennai will present Shiva the Musical Thunder from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Jan 6. Ram Li Ibrahim and his group from Kuala Lumpur will present the Spellbound Odyssey later. 

Pandit Vishwamohan Bhat, the Grammy award winner, and Surmani Pandit Pravin Ghodkindi will present a jugalbandi on veena and flute, respectively, followed by a Kathak presentation by Adithi Mangaldas’ troupe on Jan 7. 

Mahesh Vinayakram and his troupe from Chennai will present Moksha on Jan 8, after which Raghu Deekshit, M. D. Pallavi, and troupe will present a light music show till 9:30 p.m. 

Since the event is well-planned, it will not miss the schedule, stated Mr. Alva. Other highlights of the event include magic shows by Kudroli Ganesh and colorful dance shows by Alva’s Group students.
