Mangalore, Sep 18: The 56th general body meeting of the All India Catholic Union was held at Pastoral Center, Bajjodi on September 18, Saturday to discuss ways and means to promote leadership within the community since, as Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza put it, “it is the need of the hour for leaders to realize their responsibilities toward the youth.” The bishop spoke of the need to make community life beautiful by providing them peaceful and God-loving leaders.
Justice M. F. Saldanha was the chief guest of the event. Speaking about the stressful nature of modern living, he spoke of the importance of uniting with other communities for peaceful and harmonious living. MP Oscar Fernandes, the guest of honor, extended his support to the community. His wife Blossom Oscar Fernandes was also present on the occasion.
Walter Cyril Pinto, the president of Catholic Sabha Mangalore, delivered the welcome speech; Allen Thomas Sequeira, the vice president, proposed the vote of thanks; and Niezil Noronha was the master of ceremonies.
