Mangalore, Sep 12, 2012: The DK branch of the Karnataka Rajya Anudhanita Prarthamika Shala Shikshakara Sangha Bangalore will organize Ksha Kirana 2012, a convention for aided school teachers and a workshop on right to education on September 18, Tuesday in Town Hall, Mangalore.

Aided School TeachersDr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka will inaugurate the event, District-in-charge Minister C. T. Ravi will preside, and Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri will be the chief guest.

Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club on September 12, Wednesday, Raviraj Shetty, president of the association, said that aided schools are being treated as private schools and students are not given the facilities due to them.

One of the objectives of organizing this program is to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to problems faced by aided schools. Listing out the problems of aided schools, he said that several aided schools are violating government norms. Moreover, three aided schools—Kakva School in Mulki, Hindu Higher Primary School in Nagori, and Kolambe School in Bajpe—had to be shut down because of various problems.

Citing examples of aided schools violating norms, he said that a school in Polali, which had obtained permission to run a Kannada medium school, had begun running an English medium school instead. He said that aided schools are violating laws because of the apathy of education officers concerned, adding that more than 100 aided schools in DK stand guilty of violating education norms.
