ATIM organizes 2-day training on RTI Act

Mangalore, June 14, 2011: The Administrative Training Institute of Mysore (ATIM) organized a 2-day special training programme titled “Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of RTI Act 2005” at the Zilla Panchayat Auditorium on June 14 Tuesday. Shivarame Gowda, the ZP additional CEO, inaugurated the event.

 

Sairam Bhat, the associate professor of National Law School of India University Bangalore, was the resource person. Addressing the gathering, he said that, although 8 state governments brought the Right to Information Act, only the Delhi government implemented it.

According to Section 2 of the Right to Information Act, citizens can get information from the Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Gram Panchayat, central government, state government, and non governmental organizations, he informed. Any organization receiving grants exceeding Rs. 25 lakh from the government must provide all the required information to the people within 30 days while private sectors and non government organizations must provide information within 40 days.
