Bangalore ,March 26, 2013 : Dr.Santosh Narayanan, a student of AJ Institute of Medical Science, Mangalore, has made his institution proud. He is the first student of the institute to bag as many as 17 gold medals at the end of his MBBS course.
A proud Dr Santosh Narayanan who hails from Kozhikode in Kerala, received his gold medals at the 15th Convocation of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences held at Bangalore on March 25, Monday.
Dr Santosh who comes from a family of doctors had bagged the 15th rank in Kerala SSLC exams by scoring 96 per cent. Now he has already secured a seat in the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, where he plans to do an MD in general medicine with specialization in haematology-oncology.
Dr. Bhankar Ruchi Ramesh from A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, received four gold medals at the convocation. Hailing from Gujarat, she now aspires to pursue a post graduation in Endodontics.
Dr. Narayanan and Dr Bhankar Ruchi Ramesh were among the 45 students who received 69 gold medals at the convocation. A total of 27,512 candidates were awarded degrees, while Ph.D. degrees were given to 34 candidates.
Padma Bhushan B.M. Hegde, former Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University, delivered the convocation address.
