Mangalore, Feb 20, 2012: Following the police interrogation of Ashraf, the former mayor of Mangalore, on Feb 19 Sunday in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl by two men who are currently absconding, ACP Ravindra Gadadi has been relieved of his post and appointed as a special duty officer in the office of the Mangalore police commissioner.
Confirming the above news, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that Gadadi has been relieved of his post because he did not handle the rape case in a satisfactory manner and that Gadadi could have arrested Mubarak and Waheed if he had taken appropriate action.

ACP Gadadi had taken Ashraf to the Bunder Police Station for questioning on the night of Saturday with regard to allegations that he had provided shelter to one of the accused. A large group of friends and supporters of Ashraf gathered at the police station and began protesting. Seemanth Kumar Singh had rushed to the police station and had reprimanded Gadadi.
Simultaneously, certain sources state that Gadadi had taken Ashraf to the police station for interrogation as directed by the Mangalore police commissioner.
