Mangalore, Oct 23, 2013: Students of Karnataka Polytechnic College under the aegis of ABVP formed a human chain as part of the nationwide awareness campaign ’Students walk for protection of women’ at KPT circle on October 23, Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors, Ramesh K, state secretary of ABVP said that the AVBP has been fighting to provide justice to Sowjanya’s family from beginning and other parties too had support the protest.
The aim of protest is not only to fight against injustice to Sowjanya, but also against injustice to mysterious death of Akshatha and Manipal gang-rape victim and every woman.
He also said that the Communist Party is only talking about Sowjanya case while other two girls were also brutally attacked.
The campaign will create awareness among the young girls and demand safety of women in front of government, political leaders and the public.
ABVP also demands for fast track court to provide justice to sexual harassment, acid attacks and violence against women and take strict action against the culprits.
Further ABVP will organize a rally in Mangalore, Beltangady, Vittal, Puttur, Moodbidri, Udupi, Subrahmanya, Sullia and Madikeri as a part of campaign, he said.
ABVP district secretary Chethan Padil and others were present.
